Chinese Medical Cupping & Gua Sha

Two Traditional Chinese medical techniques used in conjunction with acupuncture to enhance their effect. Cupping involves the use of cups and heat to move the blood and Qi stasis from constricted areas of the body. Gua sha literally means “scrape away heat.” It is performed by applying pressurized strokes to the back using an organic specialized scraping instrument. They are both used to treat pain, and can also be utilized to address conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, colds, flu, fever, fibromyalgia, strains, sprains & muscle spasms. The guiding principles behind cupping and gua sha are that these techniques have the ability to break up stagnation, promoting the smooth flow of blood in a targeted area, thereby relieving chronic and acute pain.
